In the third single, 'VOLIA' (Ukr. for will, liberty), the Ukrainian post-rock/electronica TOTAL-EMPTY band reflects on the eight years’-war in Ukraine. In particular, the courage of defenders who resist russian invasion on the front line.

The first demo was born several years ago but couldn't get its final shape as there was always a feeling of some missing puzzles. Only with the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion did 'VOLIA' find a new meaning.

The single is dedicated to the heroes and heroines who defend Ukraine. This song is about determination, courage, and commitment. It is a reinterpretation of the phrase "Heroes do not die" and a tribute to everyone who gave their lives for freedom.

Unlike many other songs on the war topic, 'VOLIA' got an unusual atmosphere, making it unique. It is about deep gratitude and respect for the defenders of Ukrainian land and the country's independence.

The lyrics are dedicated to a particular person whose identity the band does not want to reveal for obvious reasons. However, the experience embodied behind the words is universal.

The track also has easter eggs, including references to 'Forest Song' by Lesya Ukrainka and the song 'By the poplar' by Polish band Enej.

'VOLIA' is the second composition of the TOTAL-EMPTY band in Ukrainian, following the previous single 'Leave the soul'. It continues the new direction of the band's sound: a mix of post-rock melodiousness, atmospheric vocals, chill beats, and an elaborative arrangement with indie vibes. Moreover, in this single, vocals are not the central element of the track but rather one of the instruments in the arrangement.
